How to cut your grocery bill without eating less

Here are the money-saving tips from our Facebook post, all in one place.

  1. Plan meals from the weekly sales ad. Check what's on sale first, then build your week's meals around it instead of the other way around.
  2. Try store-brand swaps. Staples like flour, canned vegetables, rice and frozen produce are often nearly identical to name brands and cost noticeably less.
  3. Shop your pantry before you write the list. Use up what you already have so nothing goes to waste and you don't buy doubles.
  4. Compare the unit price. The small "price per ounce" on the shelf tag shows which size is really the better deal.
